Mayo Abbey Active Retirement Association

The first of The Gathering socials was a great success in the bishop O’Healy centre, Mayo Abbey.  Hosted by the Active Retirement group and attended by guests from Balla, Ballina, Lahardane, Louisburgh, Milltown, Parke, Taugheen, and the local group.

Maybe too many for comfort as a number of ardent supporters came along to hear the Bumble Bee. By moving the furniture around, space was made for dancing and the floor was filled all night.

Light-hearted entertainment was supplied by the Claremorris strawboys. Thanks to the organisers these socials have built up a great reputation throughout the county. The committee thank the organisers of the visiting group and hope to see them all back again sometime in the future. They have a rotation system in place in order to accommodate different groups throughout the county.
