Ballyglass Heritage Club Gathering.


Heritage Evening / Social, Tractor Run, Thrashing Demonstration and evening of music and dance with special guests from America.

A Full schedule of activities are now available here.


Later that night in The Old Ground, we will have the "Ballyglass Gathering Party". Music and craic by local artists.



1st Aug 2013 7pm

Ballyglass FC Fun Game


Ballyglass FC will take on local GAA club, Mayo Gaels GAA, in a challenge soccer match on Thursday Aug 1st in Michael Keaveney Park.



2nd Aug 2013 8pm


Remembrance Mass in the Mayo Abbey old Parish (Famine) Church.

Followed by "cemetery walk" in old and new graveyards.


Open Air music by Kathy Durkin and local artists in Malachy Byrnes from 9pm with BBQ.



3rd Aug 2013

Official Opening of Mayo Abbey National School by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny at 12:30.

- incorporating memorabilia from the old school.


A Display by Mayo Abbey Heritage Group in the new school.


U12 GAA Blits at 2pm

An exciting competition between local rivals Mayo Gaels and Ballintubber as well as Tuam Stars and St Brigids.


Irish Nite in Malachy Byrnes

Music by Sister Act

Free admission. Raffle on the night



4th Aug 2013

"Abbey Tots" Car Treasure Hunt


A fun trip around the whole parish. How well do you know it?

Registration/Start at Abbey Tots Creche at 1:15.

Finishing at Malachy Byrnes in time to watch Mayo V Donegal.

Open to everyone.

€10 per car. Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.



8th Aug 2013 7pm

Ballyglass Historic Walk


A Ballyglass Historic Walk will take place on Thursday evening, August 1st at 7.00p.m.

Starting at the Old Ground, the guided walk will pass the newly erected plaques at;

[a] the Garda Barracks,

[b] Curlisduane Bronze- age mound,

[c] Pre- Famine Police Barracks and

[d] the Turlough.

Information will be given at each of these points.

Refreshments afterwards. All welcome.



9th Aug 2013. 7:30

Facefield 150 - Wreath Laying Ceremony on the site of the old Facefield School.


Meeting at church at 7:30. Shuttle bus provided to old school site.


10th Aug 2013 6pm


Facefield 150 - Concelebrated Mass in Facefield School.


A concelebrated mass by past pupils. This will be followed by a display of school memorabilia including the 1901 census.


Irish Nite in Dempseys, Balla.

This will give everyone an opportunity to catch up with friends, relations and old classmates and get to know all the new families who have come into our area.

Local musicians, Food served, Free admission, Raffle on the night.

11th Aug 2013. 3pm

Facefield 150 - BBQ in school grounds.


Plenty of music and activities for all ages. The new Astroturf pitch adjacent to the school will be well utilised on the day with many activities in mind for the young and maybe not so young.
